From an analysis of atomic scale images, we identify two different kinds of atomic scale contrasts, which we attribute to monoand bilayer (or trilayer) graphene capping a C-rich interface. At any temperature, both terraces show quantum interferences generated by point defects. Such interferences are a fingerprint of pi-like states close to the Fermi level. We conclude that the metallic states of the first graphene layer are almost unperturbed by the underlying interface, in agreement with recent ab initio studies [2] and photoemission experiments [3]. However, a significant density of interface states is detected close to the Fermi level in the C-rich interface. [1] P. Mallet et al., Phys. Rev. B 76, 041403(R) (2007) [2] F. Varchon et al., Phys. Continuous Wafer-Scale Graphene on cubic-SiC(001)

The atomic and electronic structure of graphene synthesized on commercially available cubic‐SiC(001)/Si(001) wafers have been studied by low energy electron microscopy (LEEM), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), low energy electron diffraction (LEED), and angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). LEEM and STM data prove the wafer‐scale continuity and uniform thickness of t...

Conduction coefficient modeling in bilayer graphene based on schottky transistors

Nowadays carbon nanoparticles are applied on the island of single electron transistor and Nano-transistors. The basis of single electron devices (SEDs) is controllable single electron transfer between small conducting islands. Based on the important points in quantum mechanics, when a wave passes through several spatial regions with different boundaries, the wave function of the first region di...

NanoARPES of twisted bilayer graphene on SiC: absence of velocity renormalization for small angles

The structural and electronic properties of twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) on SiC(000) grown by Si flux-assisted molecular beam epitaxy were investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy with nanometric spatial resolution. STM images revealed a wide distribution of twist angles between the two graphene layers. The electronic structure recor...

The effect of doping Graphene Quantum Dots with K, B, N, and Cl on its emitted spectrum

In this work, the effect of doping Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) on their emission spectra has been studied. First, graphene has been deposited on SiC substrate by using sublimation method. Second, doped-GQDs have been distributed on the surface of graphene via drop casting. The structure of the samples have been studied and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy ...

Atomic-scale mapping of thermoelectric power on graphene: role of defects and boundaries.

The spatially resolved thermoelectric power is studied on epitaxial graphene on SiC with direct correspondence to graphene atomic structures by a scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) method. A thermovoltage arises from a temperature gradient between the STM tip and the sample, and variations of thermovoltage are distinguished at defects and boundaries with atomic resolution. The epitaxial graphe...
